Why there are no customs charges

Since Brexit, EU customers ordering yarn from retailers in England, Scotland or Wales have faced customs charges and handling fees when their parcel arrives, often as an unpleasant surprise at the door. Northern Ireland is in a unique position: goods sent from here to the EU move without those charges. If you have been caught out by fees on a yarn order from Britain before, ordering from Belfast solves that.

We are the main supplier of Donegal Tweed in the north of the island, and demand from the Republic is something we see every week. Postage to Ireland works best on larger orders, because the shipping cost is spread across more yarn, so a sweater quantity on the cone is far better value than a ball or two at a time. Shop online and enter your address at checkout, where shipping is calculated for you. Rates depend on the size and weight of the parcel, and bigger orders get better value, so if you are planning a large project it is worth contacting us first for the most economical option. There are no customs charges or handling fees when your parcel arrives in the EU.
