150g Main Colour Faerie Folk + 30g Contrast Colour
Digital download of the Pattern (PDF)
Whist working on a garment collection with our Faerie Folk yarn, local designer Ailbíona McLochlainn observed that the yarn was exceptionally durable - no doubt due to its mohair content and tight twist. It occurred to her, that aside from being great for garments, Faerie Folk could also be used for socks. After some experimental stress-testing, this theory was confirmed: Faerie Folk socks are comfortable and hard-wearing, making this yarn a particularly appealing option for those who prefer nylon-free non-superwash sock yarns. And so, Ailbíona’s Irish Waves collection launches not with a garment but with these striking nautical socks. Meet the Wave Run Socks - or, Stocaí Tonn in Irish. The ripple motif is achieved using a surprisingly simple technique, with no colourwork involved, making these socks suitable for all skill level. Knit them from the cuff down or from the toe-up, in Faerie Folk or a traditional sock yarn.
